Description

Double-arch road bridge, built c.1760, spanning stream. Now disused. Rubble stone walls and parapets overgrown and partially collapsed. Dressed stone voussoirs to round-headed arches, with rubble stone soffits.

Appraisal

A fine bridge which is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of those involved in its construction. Its became disused when the main Macroom to Bandon road was diverted to avoid passing the gable of Gurteen House, which was then apparently owned by an engineer with influential connections.
