Freestanding carved and inscribed limestone monument, erected 1966, comprising central cross with interlace strapwork, flanked by inscribed panels in Irish and English and terminating in relief panels with flaming sword and crossed rifles motifs. Mounted on rendered and paved plinth with stepped approach from north-west and south-east.
Unveiled on 13 November 1966 by W. Hales, this memorial is dedicated to the memory of Irish men who died during the Crossbarry ambush of 19 March 1921. Its imposing size and detailed craftsmanship make it a fine roadside addition.
