Description

Detached two-bay single-storey gate lodge, dated 1837, with single-bay four-storey tower to south-east having machicolated parapet. Extended to north-east, c. 1930, comprising single-bay single-storey end bay. Now derelict with some openings blocked-up. Pitched slate roof with red clay ridge tiles, projecting boxed eaves and verges, exposed gable truss and cast-iron hoppers and downpipes. Coursed rubble stone walls with shield on west wall "H.A.H. 1837". Round-headed windows with rough-cut limestone ashlar surrounds. Windows blocked up at ground floor. Paired round-headed openings to tower with central pilaster and three-pane timber windows. Round-headed doorway in gable. Paired round-headed doorway in gable. Retaining interior features. Picturesquely sited.
