Description

Detached single-bay two-storey sandstone-built Gothic Revival style gate lodge, built c. 1840, with single-storey canted oriel window to first floor, battlemented roof parapet and single-bay two-storey advanced corner turret to north-west on a square plan with battlemented roof parapet. Now ruinous. Lancets to turret with ogival heads, paired and triple lancets to rear with stone mullions. Limestone spiral staircase, plastered walls and timber boarded ceiling to interior. Attached gateway, built c. 1840, to east, comprising pair of sandstone ashlar piers with lancet arch carriage arch to centre having hood moulding over and pedestrian gateway to east comprising lancet arch door opening with block-and-start archivolt. Set back from road and flanked by rubble walls.
