Appraisal

This impressive structure at the base of Sliabh Chiamálta is a dominant feature over the surrounding landscape, a popular spot for walkers. It is a physical reminder of the mining heritage of the area, and forms part of a large group of industrial heritage in and around Silvermines, including engine houses, workers houses, outbuildings and the mine site itself. Brown and yellow brick has been used to decorative effect in the chimney.
