Description

End-of-terrace two-bay two-storey red brick house with dormer attic, built 1896, on a corner site retaining original aspect. One of a terrace of seven. Pitched (shared) slate roof with clay ridge tiles, red brick Running bond (shared) chimney stack, and cast-iron rainwater goods on red brick eaves. Red brick Flemish bond wall to front (west) elevation with vitrified blue brick course to first floor. Unpainted rendered walls to remainder with red brick quoins. Square-headed window openings with stone sills, and 2/2 timber sash windows. Square-headed door opening with timber panelled door and overlight. Road fronted on a corner site with concrete footpath to front.

Appraisal

This house, built as one of a terrace of seven identical units, has been very well maintained to present an original aspect, retaining important original salient features and materials. The house, together with the remainder of the terrace (22502096 – 8/WD-5632-21-1115 – 7), is an attractive feature in the streetscape of Shortcourse and is distinguished by the construction in red brick.
