Freestanding single-bay single-storey gable-fronted mausoleum, dated 1876, with single-bay single-storey side elevations. Pitched (gable-fronted) cut-stone roof (ivy-clad) with cut-stone coping having cross finial to apex. Broken coursed tooled squared rubble stone walls with inscribed cut-limestone blocks, and cut-stone coat-of-arms to gable to rear (east) elevation. Square-headed door opening with cut-stone lintel, and steel door. Pointed-arch window opening to rear (east) elevation with cut-stone sill, and pierced cast-iron fitting. Set back from road in grounds shared with Templemichael Church.
An attractive, small-scale mausoleum of unassuming architectural appearance, which forms an appealing feature in the grounds of Templemichael Church. The construction of the mausoleum attests to high quality stone masonry, which is particularly evident in the fine carved detailing, including a coat-of-arms that enhances the artistic value of the composition. The mausoleum is of particular importance in the locality as the burial place of the Holroyd-Smyth family of nearby Ballynatray House (22903712/WD-37-12).
