Description

Freestanding round-plan dovecote, built c.1800, now in use as storage. Adjoining rubble stone walls to east and north of similar construction.

Appraisal

This dovecote, a type of structure that is fairly rare in Ireland, makes a fine and unusual contribution to the architectural heritage of the surrounding area. Often built as symbols of high status, this structure is a reminder of Newcastle House, which is now demolished.
