Limestone rubble-built mill race, built c.1800, with significant alterations c.1860. Located to east of lower Corrib River and Eglinton Canal minor branch. Water source supplied by Eglinton Canal to north end of mill race where canal is effectively split in two by rubble stone and earthen embankment with mill race following path to south east and beneath former mill, now converted to flats, before continuing south and feeding into lower Corrib after turning sharply west and passing under small bridge.
This mill race is an important reminder of the industrial heritage of Galway City. The cut-stone bridge is an interesting feature as are the well-built walls of the mill race cutting.
