Freestanding three-stage windmill, built c.1750. Roofless. Lime-rendered coursed rubble limestone walls with entrances diametrically opposite each other. Slit openings to upper stages. Windmill sited on mound of loose stones. No timberwork or machinery survives.
This windmill is one of the few in County Galway and is typical of windmill stumps in Ireland. Its cylindrical form suggests an earlier date than other types and it was apparently built by Dr Hort, bishop of Tuam between 1742-52.
