Freestanding cast-iron water pump, erected c.1870, comprising flared fluted round-plan shaft with fluted domed cap, spout with bucket grip, and having wheel pumping handles to east and west sides. Limestone trough to front. Pump is set next to Gort Crane House and weigh bridge.
A wheeled water pump, one of a small number of the type surving in County Galway. Its form, with a flared shaft, is unusual, and the fluted detail and decorative bucket grip add artistic interest to what was intended as a utilitarian object.
