Single-arch road bridge, built c.1855, over River Clare. Shallow segmental arch of large blocks of limestone, soffit now gunnelled. Walls and parapet of rusticated blocks, with blocks laid flat on parapet as copings. At either end of parapets are semi-circular blocks to define ends of bridge. Plaque inscribed 'John Gill Contractor Galway 1856'.
Milltown Bridge is typical of the drainage bridges built in the middle of the nineteenth century. It is one of the larger of the type and very well constructed.
