Description

Gateway and gate lodge, erected c.1820, to former Moylough Rectory. Gateway comprises square-plan cut limestone piers with plinths, moulded cornices, moulded string course, flat caps and supporting double-leaf decorative cast-iron gates. Accompanying detached gate lodge, now derelict, is three bays and single storey, with extension to rear, hipped slate roof having centrally placed chimneystack and rendered walls, square-headed window openings missing frames, and square-headed doorway having limestone block-and-start surround and moulded cornice

Appraisal

This gateway and gate lodge form an attractive group along with Moylough Rectory. The limestone doorway and the well carved gate piers and decorative gates are of architectural and aesthetic merit.
