Detached four-bay single-storey with dormer attic vernacular house, built c.1800, and with single-storey thatched late twentieth-century extension to rear. Pitched thatched roof with decorative block ridge and rendered chimneystack, and cement copings to gables. Lime rendered over random rubble walls. Square-headed openings with replacement uPVC windows throughout, having painted stone sills. Square-headed replacement battened timber half-door. Set parallel to road behind random rubble fieldstone boundary wall with flat rubble coping, square gate piers and decorative metal gate, and with garden to side and rear.
Once common in the landscape, the traditional thatched house is now becoming increasingly rare. This example is a physical reminder of the vernacular building tradition of Ireland. It has retained much of its original form and fabric. It is a valuable and architecturally significant building in the area.
