Detached four-bay single-storey vernacular house, built c.1800, having late twentieth-century single-storey extension to rear. Pitched thatched roof with decorative knotting to ridge, stone copings to gables, and one low rendered chimneystack. Pitched slate roof to extension. Rendered walls. Square-headed window openings with raised render reveals and replacement uPVC windows. Glazed timber square-headed door to front. Outbuildings to rear. House set at angle to road with low lime rendered random rubble stone boundary wall to road with square piers and timber gate.
Once a common feature in the Irish landscape, the traditional thatched house is becoming increasingly rare. Although the building has been modified and renovated in recent years, this attractive thatched house retains its form and many typical features including thatched roof and low chimneystack. The boundary wall and associated outbuilding complete the setting.
