Detached four-bay single-storey with dormer attic vernacular house, built c.1800, with single-storey flat-roofed extension to rear. Pitched thatched roof with decorative knotting to raised ridge and wire mesh at eaves. Rendered chimneystack to ridge. Rendered walls with rendered plinth, eaves course and parallel quoins. Square-headed openings with replacement timber casement windows throughout, ornate render band and painted stone sills. Four-panel timber entrance door with glazed upper panes and raised render band surround. Set parallel to road with gardens to front within rendered boundary wall with square rendered piers and gates. Single-storey outbuilding to north.
An increasingly rare sight, the thatched house is a physical reminder of the tradition of Irish vernacular building. This house retains the form and characteristics associated with vernacular architecture including thatched roof and low chimneystack. The decorative render details add visual interest to the façade. The outbuildings to the rear and the garden to the front enhance the setting.
