Description

Gateway to former Weston House, erected c.1820. Splayed walls from road lead to low roughly coursed squared limestone screen wall with stone copings, flanking vehicular entrance with panelled cut-stone piers with moulded cornices and squat pyramidal caps and double-leaf cast-iron gates, with carved stone wheel guards in advance of gate.

Appraisal

This gateway, with its well crafted panelled stone piers and cast-iron gates, reflects the quality of the now-demolished Weston House, an early nineteenth-century three-bay two-storey house, in its small demesne.
