Appraisal

Sited at the entrance to Castlegar Estate, these finely executed limestone piers create a grand and imposing entrance. The evidence of skilled craftsmen can be seen in the finely tooled piers and decorative gates and the combination of limestone and decorative metalwork lends an architectural quality to the entrance and announces the social standing and importance the estate has in local area.
