Freestanding Gothic-style limestone demesne gateway, erected c.1790, comprising slightly projecting pointed vehicular archway flanked by screen walls with pointed windows, latter possible formerly pedestrian entrances. Random rubble stone walls with moulded string course to base of crenellated parapets, that to archway proper having roundel to parapet and lozenge openings to spandrels. Openings have hood-mouldings and windows have limestone sills. Set adjacent to road with random rubble limestone boundary wall to east.
This fine gateway has a pleasing symmetry and makes a strong visual impact on the road to Woodlawn. The stonework has been well maintained and the gateway enhances the architectural character of the area.
