Freestanding round-plan three-stage tower set within round-plan enclosure having gravestones, built c.1790. Coursed rubble limestone walls to tower and enclosure, both having crenellations, former with string course and latter with pointed-arch openings to middle of each crenellation, with inscribed limestone plaques below. Pointed archway to south side of enclosure having moulded cornice, crenellations and stone Latin cross. Tower has round-arch opening to north side. Monument set back from road in own grounds, surrounded by mature trees. Limestone gate piers and farm gate to road.
This mausoleum is one of the largest in Ireland and was built by Frederick Trench, whose tomb lies in the circular tower. Restoration work has been carried out on the structure. The mausoleum is a unique structure and still in use as the burial ground of the Trench family.
