Single-arch limestone road bridge over railway, built c.1850, having symmetrical plan about east-west axis. Coursed squared and snecked rubble walls and piers and with flanking walls to east and west. Segmental arch with dressed limestone voussoirs to arch rings. Squared diagonal-set stone to spandrel panels, and projecting string course and parapet with chamfered coping stones. Woodlawn Railway Station to west.
This handsome limestone bridge is unaltered and has a pleasing symmetrical composition. Built of well detailed natural limestone, it spans the Athlone to Galway line which was opened by Midland Great Western railway in 1851. It is a typical example of a railway bridge of the mid-nineteenth century.
