Description

Painted pebbledashed walls having painted smooth render course framing front elevation. Square-headed window openings having painted reveals and painted stone sills with replacement timber windows. Square-headed door opening having painted reveal and replacement timber battened door. Wrought-iron pedestrian gate set into painted rendered boundary wall to front garden.

Appraisal

The low elevation, thick walls, and small openings of this house are typical of the vernacular tradition in Ireland. Once common throughout the countryside and towns and villages, thatched buildings have become increasingly rare. This example also retains its low chimneystack.
