Appraisal

This well crafted, handsomely proportioned gate screen provides a fitting entrance to Garbally Demesne. The carved limestone shows evidence of skilled craftsmanship. It forms a prominent landmark in the streetscape along with the gate lodge, and together they form part of an interesting group of demesne structures, along with the ice house, obelisk, outbuildings and former country house.
