Entrance gates to Garbally country house, erected c.1860, comprising double-leaf cast-iron vehicular gate flanked by rectangular-profile carved limestone piers with moulded corners to recessed sides, carved panels, pyramidal caps over moulded cornices, in turn flanked by matching cast-iron pedestrian gates and further matching piers, with tooled limestone quadrant plinth walls beyond these with copings and plinths and having matching cast-iron railings with terminating square-profile channelled rusticated piers. Spherical cut limestone wheelguards to vehicular piers.
This well crafted, handsomely proportioned gate screen provides a fitting entrance to Garbally Demesne. The carved limestone shows evidence of skilled craftsmanship. It forms a prominent landmark in the streetscape along with the gate lodge, and together they form part of an interesting group of demesne structures, along with the ice house, obelisk, outbuildings and former country house.
