Description

Detached four-bay single-storey vernacular house, built c.1800. Pitched thatched roof having decoratively scolloped raised ridge, and low rendered chimneystack. Painted roughcast rendered walls having painted smooth rendered quoins, plinth, and eaves course. Square-headed openings with convex render surrounds. Window openings have painted sills and one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows. Half-glazed timber panelled door. Wrought-iron pedestrian gate with square-profile rendered piers with domed caps, and painted rubble stone boundary walls to front garden. Lean-to outbuilding to east, with corrugated-iron roof.

Appraisal

A vernacular direct-entry thatched house with unusual convex surrounds to its openings. The siting is enhanced by the garden to the front.
