Description

Detached five-bay single-storey vernacular house, built c.1800. Pitched thatched roof having decoratively scolloped raised ridge, and painted rendered chimneystack. Painted smooth rendered walls with splashback to base. Square-headed window openings having painted reveals and painted sills with replacement uPVC windows. Square-headed door opening having replacement half-glazed timber panelled door. Outbuilding to north having corrugated-iron roof.

Appraisal

A lobby-entry thatched vernacular house. It is the last surviving thatched house in the vernacular settlement of Moneymore, and forms part of a large group of thatched houses in south-east Galway.
