Description

Detached four-bay single-storey vernacular house, built c.1800, having flat-roof entrance porch to front (north) elevation and recent single-storey extension to east. Pitched thatched roof having decoratively scolloped raised ridge, and low rendered chimneystack. Painted smooth rendered walls. Square-headed window openings having painted stone sills with replacement timber windows. Square-headed door opening having replacement half-glazed timber panelled door. Wrought-iron pedestrian gate with rendered piers to painted smooth rendered boundary walls.

Appraisal

A direct-entry thatched vernacular house, a type once common but now increasingly rare. Its siting, perpendicular to the road, and retention of outbuildings is also notable.
