Detached five-bay two-storey house over half-basement, built c.1730, with attic storey, and having two-storey stairs return to rear, two-storey return to east end of rear, recent three-storey flat-roofed addition to west end of rear, and recent porch to rear elevation. Pitched slate roofs with rendered chimneystacks, cut limestone eaves course and cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls with rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings with tooled limestone sills, front elevation having six-over-six-pane timber sliding sash windows, tripartite to first floor of central bay, and with four-over-four pane sidelights flanking entrance. Attic lights to upper gables, with casement windows. Six-over-six and six-over-three pane timber sliding sash windows to older returns, and uPVC to recent addition. Square-headed door opening with cut limestone block and start surround, having timber panelled door, and with recent limestone date plaque above, and approached by splayed cut limestone steps with dressed limestone retaining walls having flat copings. Some early eighteenth-century stucco work to interior. Set within its own grounds. Entrance to site consists of double-leaf wrought-iron gates flanked by dressed limestone piers and flanking walls.
Symmetry of façade and elegant proportions make this a distinctive house. Its form is enhanced by the retention of early features such as timber sliding sash windows and the slate roof. The entrance, with its limestone doorcase and flight of steps creates a fine focal point.
