Appraisal

This entrance gateway and lodge still serves Hollypark House. The ashlar masonry of the piers forms a pleasing visual contrast with the rubble of the curved walls, while the eye is drawn upwards by the tapering profile. The lodge adds further interest to the entrance. The modest form of the lodge forms an interesting contrast to the ornate entrance. Together they create a visually pleasing roadside feature.
