Entrance gates to Hollypark House, erected c.1860. Cast-iron double-leaf gates flanked by cast-iron pedestrian gates, all flanked by tapering square-profile carved limestone piers having moulded capstones, cut-stone plinths, and with round-headed detail to front of shafts. Rounded limestone wheel guards to front. Rubble stone quadrant walls. Rubble stone boundary walls to gate lodge. Detached three-bay single-storey former gate lodge, built c.1860, with gabled porch to front (north-east) elevation and recent two-bay extension with pitched roof to rear. Pitched slate roof with cut limestone chimneystack. Lined-and-ruled rendered walls. Square-headed window openings with two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows and tooled limestone sills. Square-headed door opening with replacement timber door.
This entrance gateway and lodge still serves Hollypark House. The ashlar masonry of the piers forms a pleasing visual contrast with the rubble of the curved walls, while the eye is drawn upwards by the tapering profile. The lodge adds further interest to the entrance. The modest form of the lodge forms an interesting contrast to the ornate entrance. Together they create a visually pleasing roadside feature.
