Irregular plan walled garden, built c.1750. Now disused and overgrown. Rubble limestone walls, having entrance to west side.
One of several interesting features on the former demesne of Ballydonnellan Castle, forming part of a notable group with the ruined house, the dovecote, the outbuildings, and the site entrance. Walled gardens were an integral part of demesnes, providing a sheltered environment allowing the cultivation of a wide variety of kitchen ingredients, for the family and their guests. The simple unadorned form reflects its utilitarian function.
