Cast-iron water pump, erected c.1870, having moulded banded shaft and fluted neck, fluted domed cap with pointed finial, cow's tail pumping handle, and moulded spout. Stands within rubble limestone enclosure reached by steps, with wall-mounted cast-iron letter box of c.1940 to adjoining rubble limestone walling and bearing high relief mongram 'P&T'.
This group of water pump and letter box is of social importance to the locality and, significantly, is located opposite the Catholic church. Both items display the skills of nineteenth and twentieth-century industrial metal casting.
