Freestanding limestone cenotaph, erected c.1853, set at roadside, with dedication to Rodger Connelly who died 1853 and wife Anne died 1872. Plaque to west face dedicated to Anne's son Michael who died 1859. Cenotaph comprises rubble plinth with roughly dressed moulded coping surmounted by cross finial with margined terminals and inscribed cross and IHS motif. Front face of dressed stone having two-tier arrangement of inscribed limestone plaques flush with flanking stones. All plaques having margins.
This cenotaph is one of a remarkable series of distinctive memorials on Árainn, erected to the memory of local individuals who died in the nineteenth century. The combination of rubble limestone walling and inscribed plaques provides an interesting textural contrast.
