Freestanding limestone cenotaph, erected in memory of Martin O'Flaherty who died 1848. Comprises rubble plinth with step at mid-point, upper half having dressed stone front face with recessed inscribed limestone plaques. Roughly dressed coping stones and equal-armed cross to top of monument. Monument set into karst limestone.
This cenotaph is one of a remarkable series of distinctive memorials on Árainn, erected to the memory of local individuals who died in the nineteenth century. The combination of rubble limestone walling and inscribed plaques provides an interesting textural contrast.
