Freestanding limestone cenotaph, erected in memory of Margaret O'Flaherty née Dirrane who died 1830. Comprises rubble plinth with step at mid-point and having remains of render. Upper half of monument has dressed linestone front face and recessed inscribed plaques. Recessed uninscribed plaques to upper half of side faces. Roughly dressed coping stones and roughly dressed limestone equal-armed cross to top of monument. Quarter arc of sun's rays to corners of upper plaque. Monument set into karst limestone.
This cenotaph is one of a remarkable series of distinctive memorials on Árainn, erected to the memory of local individuals who died in the nineteenth century. The combination of rubble limestone walling and inscribed plaques provides an interesting textural contrast.
