Freestanding limestone cenotaph erected to memory of John Wiggins who died 1837. Comprises rubble limestone plinth with recessed inscribed limestone plaques to front face, and top of monument having rubble coping and equal-armed roughly dressed limestone cross. Monument set at roadside and abutted by rubble walls.
This cenotaph is one of a remarkable series of distinctive memorials on Árainn, erected to the memory of local individuals who died in the nineteenth century. The combination of rubble limestone walling and inscribed plaques provides an interesting textural contrast.
