Description

Two-arch limestone bridge, built c.1800, carrying road over river. Round arches with dressed stone voussoirs, rubble stone walls and parapets, latter having some render. V-shaped rubble stone cutwater with render coping to north-east elevation.

Appraisal

This simple bridge is well executed using rubble stone for its walls and cutwater, and roughly dressed stone for voussoirs. The presence of the cutwater is indicative of the strength of the river as it effectively protects the central pier from the full force of the flow. It is an important landmark on the boundary between three townlands.
