Detached single-bay single-storey outbuilding, erected c.1860. Pitched roof having crowstep gables and roped rye thatch. Rubble limestone walls with door opening to front, north-east, wall having limestone lintel and battened timber door. Stands at rear of small field bounded by rubble limestone walls and having recent metal farm gate.
This farm building is one of an interesting group of similar structures on Inis Meáin and of a wider group on the Aran Islands. The use and retention of thatch continues a long tradition of thatched roofing in Ireland and the occurrence of thatched outbuildings is also increasingly rare.
