Detached five-bay two-storey garda station, built in 1934. Hipped slate roof with ridge tiles and brick chimneystacks. Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered plinth course. Replacement uPVC windows with sills. Recessed round-headed surrounds to ground floor windows of façade. Timber panelled doors with stucco surrounds to end bays, approached by steps. Single-storey outbuildings to rear.
Located on an elevated site, this building is prominently situated within the streetscape. The plain façade of this purpose-built garda station is embellished by the use of recessed window surrounds. Architecturally this structure is modest and functional, yet its design contributes to the character of the locality. Carrigallen Garda Station is a socially-important structure due to the significant role that it plays within the community.
