Freestanding clock, erected in 1905. Stepped sandstone base surmounted by four-sided pillar, supporting a four-faced bronze clock. Rear clock face has been removed. Clock decorated with wrought-iron dressings and bell. Carved panels to base with inscriptions. West panel contains copper door with clock mechanism behind. Base surrounded by bollards and cast-iron chain.
This town clock is located centrally within the town and has a prominent position at a major junction. A high level of technical execution is visible in the decorative iron dressings and stonework. As a memorial to Owen McCann J.P. C.C. and a meeting point within the town, the clock is of social significance.
