Detached four-bay single-storey direct entry thatched house, extant 1894, with single-bay single-storey flat-roofed open windbreak. Undergoing "restoration", 2007-10. Part mesh-covered replacement reed or straw thatch roof on collared timber construction with rope twist above exposed hazel or sally lattice stretchers having exposed scallops, cement rendered dwarf chimney stack having capping supporting ribbed terracotta pot, and concrete coping to gables. Limewashed roughcast battered wall to front (south-east) elevation on rendered chamfered plinth with rusticated rendered piers to ends supporting rendered band to eaves; exposed rubble limestone construction to side (south-west) elevation originally limewashed with rough hewn limestone flush quoins to corners. Square-headed window openings with concrete sills, and rendered "bas-relief" surrounds framing one-over-one timber sash windows having exposed sash boxes. Square-headed opposing door openings with concealed dressings framing glazed timber panelled (south-east) or timber boarded (north-west) doors. Interior dismantled, 2007. Set in landscaped grounds on a corner site with limewashed piers to perimeter supporting wrought iron gate.
A house identified as an important component of the nineteenth-century vernacular heritage of the outskirts of Glencorrib by such attributes as the rectilinear direct entry plan form; the construction in unrefined local fieldstone displaying a battered silhouette; and the high pitched roof showing a thatch finish replenished with financial support (2010) from The Heritage Council. However, while the elementary form and massing thus far survive intact together with quantities of the historic or original fabric, a protracted "restoration" may determine the ongoing architectural heritage status of a house making a picturesque visual statement in a sylvan setting.
