Freestanding cast-iron water pump, erected c.1870, now disused. Comprising cylindrical fluted shaft with moulded base, raised banding to neck and lion's head spout. Fluted domed cap with handle and acorn finial. Set on footpath in street.
This water pump is of part of the social and historical fabric of Castlerea. Erected as a source of clean water it was a technical advancement in its day. Though no longer used, it stands as an item of street furniture, enhancing the character of the locality.
