Weir and sluice gates on the Francis River, erected c.1920 in association with the steam saw mill, now disused. Double-span foot bridge to west, comprising timber to walking surface with cast-iron railings and concrete pier with V-shaped cutwaters.
This stone weir complete with its sluice gates formed part of a group of structures associated with a local water miill. The survival of these structures together with the foot bridge makes an interesting contribution to the architectural and industrial heritage of the town.
