Description
wall-mounted cast-iron post box with royal insignia of Victoria and crown, with moulded surround and cast-iron "Post Office" lettering in relief. Manufacturer's details no longer legible. Set in wall of buiilding on side street.
Appraisal
Cast-iron post boxes such as this are becoming increasingly rare due to their replacement by their modern equivalent. The simple and modest form of the box is enhanced by the cast-iron lettering and decoration.
