Appraisal

This gate lodge, known as Drum Lodge, set on an elevated position terminates the vista east from Abbeytown. It is possibly the work of Nash's draftsman, Humphrey Repton who is credited with the design of many of Rockingham's lodges. This is one of a number of gate lodges associated with Rockingham Demesne and although no longer in use, it forms a striking structure with its rough soldiered coping on the parapet and pointed-arched window openings.
