Description

Detached single-storey former good shed, built c.1860 by Great Southern Railways, with water tower to north-west. No longer in use. Pitched slate roof with cast-iron rainwater goods. Snecked rock-faced limestone walls with concrete quoins. Four square-headed window openings with cast-iron windows to south-west facing side elevation. Two loading bays to front and side elevations with timber canopy to opening on side elevation. Cast-iron water tank to limestone tower adjacent to goods shed. Located on platform of disused railway station. Tracks are still in use.

Appraisal

This disused goods shed and water tower on the platform of the old Ballymoe Railway Station are a reminder of the great railway era in Ireland. Together with the derelict former station master's house and ticket office on the other side of the tracks form a group of railway structures.
