Description

End-of-terrace two-bay two-storey stone house, built c. 1890. One of a group of five. Pitched slate roof, roll-top clay ridge tiles, red brick chimneystack with moulded stone corbelling, stone verges, moulded cast-iron gutters, rectangular cast-iron downpipes. Squared and coursed rubble limestone walling to east elevation, tooled and margined ashlar limestone quoins, painted smooth-rendered walling to south gable. Segmental-headed window openings, red brick block-and-start surrounds, limestone sills, painted timber casement windows c. 1990. Segmental-headed door opening, red brick block-and-start surround, plain-glazed overlight, painted timber panelled door c. 1980, limestone step. Street fronted.

Appraisal

This modest terraced house is part of a solid and unassuming terrace in an area which, otherwise, is largely non-residential. Masonry detailing is of a good standard. Slate roofing and original chimneystack also survive.
