Five-arch stone rail-over-river bridge, built c.1850. Squared-and-snecked rock-faced ashlar walling, slightly projecting parapet with saddle-back coping surmounted by tubular steel balustrade c. 1980. Round-headed arches, rock-faced voussoirs, triangular stone cut-waters with concrete caps to west, rectangular stone cut-waters with dressed stone pyramidal caps to east, battered return buttress walls with dressed stone copings sloping down to ground level to north and south banks of east side.
This well-engineered bridge enhances its serene setting and continues to effectively fulfill its original function. The stonework is of a high standard.
