Detached two-bay two-storey stone fortified house, built c. 1625. Rectangular with square tower at south end of west elevation, machicolation over doorway. Roof missing, pitch evident on gables, stone corbelled chimneystacks on gables. Uncoursed rubble stone walling. Segmental-headed window and door openings, rubble stone voussoirs. Evidence of fireplaces remain in interior. Set in rural landscape some distance away from road.
This National Monument in State care is a relatively intact example of a seventeenth century fortified house built at a time when medieval tower houses were being replaced by more domestic houses but still with a need for security.
