Detached four-bay two-storey building, built c.1880, with entrance to rear, set on slope with split-level ground floor, and lean-to to rear with separate two-storey structure set perpendicular to south. Pitched roof corrugated-iron roof with roll-profile ridge and cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered mud walls. Six-pane bottom-hung casement windows to upper floor with two bays to west gable and single-bay to east gable, all witout sills . Ground level windows to front having two twelve-pane timber windows to east bays, two six-pane windows with overlights set lower to west bays, two smaller windows of same divisions to west gable, all with pre-cast concrete sills. Fronting directly on to street.
A substantial building constructed using clay, though evidently built for a public or community use. This unusual construction for a non-domestic building is of considerable technical interest. The building retains historic windows of unusual design which enhance its interest. The building is set at the roadside on a marked incline, and is the first street-fronted building at this approach to the village. It is a key component in the historic row of buildings defining the south part of Milltown, and adds to the architectural landscape of the village.
