Detached single-cell outbuilding, built c. 1800. Pitched rounded thatched with netting restraint and timber and metal rope stays to eaves. Whitewashed random rubble walls. Square-headed door opening with battened timber door. Fronts directly onto road to south side of road in Effishmore, to the south-east of Carndonagh.
The survival of thatched vernacular outbuildings is unusual, making this a particularly rare example of the type. Its scale and architectural integrity contribute to the historic character to the surrounding village of Effishmore. The building is shown on the Ordnance Survey first edition six-inch map of c. 1837.
