Freestanding cast-iron water pump, erected c. 1890, now disused. Cylindrical shaft with raised horizontal banding, fluted upper section, fluted spout, and cow-tail handle. Set onto concrete base, to west side of street with random rubble wall recessed to accommodate pump.
This water pump is a good example of its type and design, with contrasting plain and fluted sections that give an attractive appearance to a functional object. It is also of social interest having provided an important amenity and a social gathering point for the village. It is also of technical interest for its cast-iron construction and pump mechanism.
